The boat was never launched from the deck, when the crews tried to fasten it to the davits, it fell from the roof of officers' quarters and fell upside-down to the boat deck. Around 30 survivors climbed onto the boat including Wireless Operator Bride, Second Officer Lightoller and Chief Baker Charles John Joughin.
